The Role

Stockport is transforming how it delivers its children’s and education services in order to continue to improve and to ensure the best possible outcomes for all its children and young people. You will join a senior team of dedicated professionals who have a collective commitment across its children’s and education services to close the gaps in inequality through the integration of education, health and social care.

As the Director for Education, you will have responsibility for key areas in children’s and education services including school improvement, SEND, inclusion and the Virtual School for Children Looked After.

We are looking for an education professional with substantial leadership experience at a senior level, who will be part of the senior leadership team and deputise for the Director of Children’s Services when necessary on education and other matters. You will provide a strategic focus on attainment and progress and possess the initiative and determination to achieve and sustain excellence through innovation. You will demonstrate a commitment to and a promotion of Stockport Council’s core values – Stockport, Team, Ambition, Respect.

Your expert skill in managing change, leading and inspiring will be critical in building on previous successes and address remaining challenges; making a real difference for our children and young people.
