Head of Councillor Support and Democratic Process
We are looking for talented, ambitious and dedicated individuals who can help us deliver our Strategy to create a more prosperous, resilient and resourceful Cornwall. As part of our extended leadership team you will be expected to make a valued contribution to creating a more sustainable Cornwall.
You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Council’s positive governance strategy. You will ensure that seamless Member support is provided and that the Council’s decision-making is robust and legal. You will act as the Council’s Deputy Monitoring Officer and will provide appropriate senior management support for all elections and referendums. A detailed understanding of Local Government and democratic processes, together with experience of creating a positive culture of collaboration between the Cabinet and the wider Membership will be key this role. As a skilled manager, you will have experiencing of leading people through change, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Alongside this, you will be effective at building and sustaining strong relationships with Members, colleagues and stakeholders.
This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check and is also politically sensitive under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
