We are looking to recruit an experienced Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer within the Highways Technical Services Section of the Highways and Streetcare Services Division. This post will sustain the council’s ongoing maintenance and monitoring programme for Highway and Engineering Structures throughout RCT.

The successful candidate will need to be proficient in structures design, inspection and monitoring in accordance with Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, have the capability to support the Highways Infrastructure Manager with technical advice on the Authority’s Structures Assets, be able to advise, support, and guide Engineers within the Highways Infrastructure Team on the latest standards and techniques, and keep up to date with changes to national standards. The successful candidate will be acting as lead for the Technical Approval Authority.

The successful candidate will be required to lead a team in the undertaking of General and Principal Inspections of Highway Structures. Demonstrable experience of the design, management, and maintenance of highway structures is essential.
