Are you brilliant with numbers but don't just want to be one? We are looking for a dynamic team manager and player that will not just help us balance the books but play a key role in helping us calculate the best way for West Suffolk to achieve its vision and support our communities.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Forest Heath District Council are ambitious authorities with a new commercial and community led approach to encourage growth and boost the local economy. We've already changed the way we work to share services and need someone who will be part of that continued transformation to achieve the best results for our communities.

We need a key influencer and enabler. Do you come up with ideas, concepts and solutions and drive through change with a positive impact on self and others? Can you demonstrate the successful leadership of high performing finance teams?

If so we have an exciting opportunity to join West Suffolk's Senior Management Team, as the Manager of our Finance and Performance Team. This role also deputises for the Chief Financial Officer.  West Suffolk has a reputation for being forward looking and innovative and this role is key in providing financial advice to projects across the spectrum of the organisations' activities. 

Working closely with the Councils' Assistant Director (Finance and Performance) and the Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be the champion for excellent management of the Councils' financial resources. This includes promoting probity, efficiency, high performance and overall value for money for the residents of West Suffolk while helping meet changes in the wider public finance environment.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified (or equivalent) and will be responsible for providing effective leadership and operational management to the finance team, ensuring that staff adopt the values and expected behaviours of the organisations, to deliver a high performance culture.  Familiarity with local government systems and procedures would be an advantage.
