It’s no coincidence that Nottingham was recently named in the Guardian as one of the happiest places to work in the UK. It’s a great city to live and work for a great many reasons…

We’ve got one of the best public transport networks in the country with a recently extended tram system. We’re a top Ten European City for foreign investment and one of the cleanest cities in Europe. We’re currently both ‘Visit England’s Home of Sport’ and ‘Sport England’s City of Football’.  We’ve also been hailed by Rough Guides as a great city to visit in 2016 thanks to a burgeoning arts and music scene, a great shopping experience and fantastic food and drink venues.

A great city deserves a great council which is what we strive to be.

We’re looking for a new leader who is enthusiastic, passionate and visionary; who demands commitment and results but is able to lead and motivate their people with respect and empathy.  We’re seeking a high performer with a credible track record in success.  As well as being a specialist in your field, you will be responsible for shaping the vision for your specific service area, delivering results, managing performance and demonstrating accountability. A background in the private or public sector – or both - is welcomed.

We do things differently in Nottingham. We’re open to new ideas and keen to embrace new ways of thinking and doing.  We particularly welcome applicants from black, minority, ethnic communities and disabled people as they are currently under represented within our workforce.

The Role

This Head of Service post provides an ideal career opportunity for a motivated building services professional in a core city with a significant property portfolio. You will lead and manage a multimillion pound business consisting of 85 staff in the following service areas; Design Services, Property Maintenance, Facilities Management and Support Services.

The successful candidate will have experience of providing effective leadership, transformational change and developing a strong performance culture. Commercial growth is at the heart of our strategy and you will drive growth in our business.

We particularly welcome applicants from black, minority, ethnic communities and disabled people as they are currently under represented at senior levels in the organisation.

Proven experience and a track record of success in facilities and building services at a senior level is essential, along with an aptitude to work closely with councillors, partners and colleagues to continue to deliver our vision for the City.
