I’ve recently joined WMP as I am excited by the unique opportunity of creating and delivering a people strategy that will enable the force to meet its goals for 2020 and beyond. We’ve made a start and there’s much more to do so we are looking for people with a range of specialist skills to augment our existing team of 400.
As an enabling function, our role is to provide support, guidance, development and a challenge to our employees and their leaders, so together we prevent crime, protect the public and help those in need. - Are you driven to get the best out of people, through having great performance conversations?
As our performance specialist, you will help develop a performance culture here at West Midlands Police that is, suitable for all police staff and officers. We are looking to develop and embed a really innovative approach to performance that can evolve and become more sophisticated over time. We have great people and we need to make performance part of the everyday conversations they have as well as the way we manage. A critical aspect of the role will be your ability to engage with partner groups and ensure that our initiatives are in line with aspects of the wider people strategy. You will need to be comfortable inspiring and enthusing officers and staff at all levels through workshops and briefings on the benefits of performance management and be able to show clear demonstrable results to the organisation.
To join us, you’ll need to be creative, collaborative and driven. With excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll influence senior partners and inspire confidence. You will also have experience of developing successful performance frameworks, along with knowledge of techniques and standard methodologies. Ideally, you will be a member of the CIPD, along with other relevant qualifications.
