A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK, poised for future transformation with scheduled, commercial air access.

The Internal Audit team provides independent and objective assurance to the Governor, Audit Committee and Chief Secretary on systems of internal controls, corporate governance and risk management. Responsible for two Internal Auditors, you will deliver selected assignments and occasionally deputise for the Head of Internal Audit.

You will be involved in ad hoc investigations which might include fraud or HR-related investigations. You will also help with training and development of the Internal Audit team and training local staff with the aim of having a fully qualified local internal audit team.

Providing consultative support in areas of corporate governance, risk management and internal controls, other responsibilities might include participation in working groups, systems review and provision of promotional materials, training and presentations. You must adhere to the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.

You should be part qualified to CIA paper 1 standard or equivalent and will continue studying towards full qualification whilst in post. Utilising objective judgement and initiative you are a strategic thinker, responsive to change, innovative and creative. Experienced in internal audit, you will have IT skills and be proficient in MS applications. Abilities should encompass management, project planning, financial management, organisation, time management, writing, interviewing, negotiating, interpersonal and verbal communication at all levels.
