Bracknell is a fantastic place to live and work. Situated in East Berkshire between the M3 and M4 motorways, we are an ambitious, effective and exciting unitary council driving huge opportunities for our residents and businesses.  We have over 450km of carriageway and 700km of footway to maintain. With the continuing construction of 10,000 new homes in the borough within the next 10 years and the re-development of the town centre in readiness for end of this year, Bracknell is certainly going places.

The Highway Asset Management team at Bracknell Forest Council is a small but dedicated and hard-working team managing a wide range of highway functions.  Reporting to our Senior Engineer, we are looking for a Highway Inspector with flair, initiative and experience to carry out safety inspections and insurance inspections in order to effectively and efficiently meet the council’s network management duties. This will include taking action in response to highway nuisances such as overgrown hedges, dangerous tress and unauthorised occupations of the highway.

We use the CONFIRM asset management tool including CONFIRM CONNECT to manage our safety inspection schedules, works orders and asset inventory, and knowledge of this system would be advantageous.

Candidates should have a recognised National Highway Inspectors Accreditation and a Street Works Supervisors Certificate of Competence, covering excavation and reinstatement and your communication and customer care skills must be to the highest standard.

In return you’ll be able to work as part of our flexitime scheme and will have the option to buy or sell annual leave.  You will also be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

If you are self-motivated with the experience, knowledge and right aptitude to add to our successful highway maintenance business then I would encourage you to apply. For an informal discussion about this vacancy, please contact Anthony Radford-Foley, Highway Asset Manager on 01344 351904.
