Can you help to plan the future for East Northamptonshire…

East Northamptonshire is an attractive, diverse mix of market towns and rural villages, located within the very heart of England.

Subject to considerable growth pressures centred on its 6 market towns, we are proactive in plan making and have a small, but busy, policy section which is preparing a District wide Local Plan to inform policy up to 2031. In addition the Joint Core Strategy requires further development allocations to be made within the District.

Are you looking to develop/build upon your experience? We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and conscientious individual to join our planning policy team, to carry out a wide range of work central to the preparation, monitoring, and review of the Local Plan.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a planning related environment and hold the relevant qualifications or be prepared to work towards them.  You should have an understanding of planning legislation, policies and procedures and the Local Plan preparation process

The role will involve contact with councillors, other professionals and the public. You will need excellent communication skills and an ability to use these to develop effective working practices with internal and external customers.

If you can demonstrate a clear understanding of planning services and have appropriate experience, we can offer the chance to lead and assist in a wide variety of planning policy work.

Benefits include:
• Excellent working environment
• Flexible working hours
• Payment of professional fees
• Excellent pension scheme

If this excellent opportunity sounds like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you. For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Richard Palmer– Planning Policy and Conservation Manager - on 01832 742142.

Closing Date:  12.00 noon on Monday 24th July 2017
Interview date: anticipated to be Wednesday 2nd / Thursday 3rd August 2017
