Help shape the East Northants of the future…

East Northamptonshire has a diverse mix of rural and urban environments and is subject to considerable growth pressures in its 6 market towns. The district has a strong historic context - 28 designated Conservation Areas and around 1400 Listed Buildings make this a very attractive and picturesque area to work. The office is in Thrapston, a market town easily accessible from a number of directions due to its location at the junction of the A14, A45 and A605.

Principal Development Management Officer (permanent, full time)
Salary: £35,445 - £40,184 pa

You will help support the management and delivery of a range of major applications. Whether you are an experienced manager or looking for a step up, this is your chance to develop and inspire through direct responsibility for technical and professional members of staff in one of our two Development Management teams.

As well as being a member of the RTPI, you will be able to demonstrate experience in dealing with complex planning applications, negotiating with applicants and presenting cases to Councillors. You will be politically aware and a team player.

At East Northamptonshire Council we believe that our staff members are our most valuable asset. We are committed to attracting and retaining the very best, and utilising all the talent and experience available. We recognise the importance of helping our employees balance their work and home life by offering flexible working arrangements that enable them to balance their working life with other priorities. These include; part-time working, home-working, compressed hours and job sharing.

Our aim is to balance the needs of our customers and our employee expectations, so our normal office hours are 08:45-17:00 and we also offer a flexi time scheme to all permanent staff (with the exception of the staff in our Contact Centre).  This means that you may work between the hours of 07.30 and 18.30 with your line manager's agreement; our core hours of work are between 10.00-12.00 and 14.00-16.00.  In return we ask all of our employees to be flexible to ensure the council meets customer needs and expectations.

If this excellent opportunity sounds like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you. For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Rhys Bradshaw – Planning Development Manager - on 01832 742180
