This post provides a covering role for registrars of births and deaths during their absence and is a "zero hours", demand led post. The postholder will carry out a large amount (but not exclusively) of their work during school holidays and at weekends and availability is particularly essential during the ceremony season between April and September. 

Please also note that this post will primarily based at our Loughborough office but there will be a requirement to cover some hours at our Melton Mowbray Office
 
The postholder will carry out the duties prescribed in statute in respect of a deputy registrar of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships and that of a deputy superintendent registrar in respect of conducting marriage and civil partnership ceremonies

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in a responsible public facing role in circumstances where customers could become upset or aggressive
  • Working in a role involving learning and interpreting large amounts of legislative detail or complex regulations
  • Working in a role recording and passing on information accurately with attention to detail
  • Working with IT systems on a daily basis
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of customer service excellence
  • Able to produce manual records to a high standard
  • Able to work flexibly, at short notice and at weekends and able to travel independently within the county
  • Demonstrate a confidence to deal with a variety of situations and take control of events,
  • A clear speaking voice and an ability to converse at ease in spoken English
