Compass Point Business Services (CPBS) is a Local Authority Trading Company, wholly owned by South Holland and East Lindsey District Council. It started its partnership and delivery of services in 2010 and is going from strength to strength.

CPBS delivers the services of Finance, HR, ICT, Revenues & Benefits, Customer Contact and Health and Safety to both Councils and employees 235 staff, primarily located at the Councils Offices at both Manby and Spalding, Lincolnshire.

We are looking for an individual who is ready for their next challenge, someone who is not just a CCAB qualified accountant with local government experience, but someone who is wanting to take their next step, wanting to lead a Finance service delivery to multiple customers, someone who can motivate, shape, develop and support a great team across two sites, to deliver consistent levels of outstanding service delivery and constantly improving performance. This is also more than just a Finance role - you will be taking on a key role as part of the corporate Senior Leadership Team.

CPBS is a limited company and therefore we also deliver a finance service to CPBS itself and provide financial reporting to a Board of Directors on a quarterly basis, so you will need to be confident in an environment with elected members, Chief Executives and Section 151 Officers. An understanding of company finances, budget preparation, finance led transformation programmes and housing revenue accounts would be beneficial, but not essential.

Working in a pressurised environment at certain key times of the year and oversight of the annual audit process won't faze you - you will be coordinating how your team delivers multiple and changing requirements according to the Council's needs.

You will also need to be innovative, inspirational and draw on previous experiences and advisor as part of the SLT team who are tasked with transformation, identifying efficiencies and savings, operating differently and often in complex and competing environments.

You will need to be CCAB qualified and have previous local government finance experience/knowledge - likely at Finance Manager/Business Partner level.

The selection process will consist of;

Competency based application - closing date Thursday 28th September.

Shortlisting and notification to candidates to take place w/c 2nd October

Interviews to take place on Thursday 19th October in Boston, Lincolnshire

The Interview process will consist of a 15 minute presentation, which successful candidates will be notified of after shortlisting has been completed. Presentations will need to arrive with HR by midday on Tuesday 17th October. Candidates will deliver their presentation to the interview panel with 5 minutes questions afterwards. This will be immediately followed by a competency based interview.

A decision will be made and communicated by Friday 20th October, with the successful candidate expected to be in post late January 2018.
