Our County Council is changing at pace to successfully tackle our challenges and capture the opportunities for all our communities in West Sussex. We are more than confident we have the ingredients to succeed. We are now seeking an Executive Director to join our Leadership Team to help shape and deliver our corporate ambitions on behalf of our communities.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading our response to the future challenges in social care, health, education and skills.

As part of the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll develop our social care, health and education services to improve outcomes for all adults, children and young people. By engaging with members and strategic partners, you’ll create a shared understanding of the future operating models, enabling the development of cohesive community-based services. Ultimately, it’s all about leading and developing innovation and transformation, while facilitating cultural change and maximising digital solutions. You’ll also raise the council’s profile locally, regionally and nationally and you’ll influence the Social & Health Care and Education agendas - furthering the Council’s leadership role in these sectors.

This isn’t your ordinary Director role. Which is why we’re looking for someone with the attitude, ambition and behaviour to become a strategic leader in this modern approach to working way beyond traditional boundaries. You’ll come with a substantial record of senior leadership achievement. You’ll also have experience of working efficiently and impartially with elected members, and supporting democratic decision-making processes. As part of this, you’ll have led a range of services, and have a history of improving outcomes for residents and communities. With a background of managing complex projects, working in multifaceted political and social environments, you’ll have executed service level, team and individual performance. Importantly, you can positively drive culture, focus on results, and forge a strong team from diverse backgrounds. That way, you’ll achieve strategic objectives within a rapidly changing environment.
