Dacorum Borough Council is committed to working in partnership to create a borough which enables the communities of Dacorum to thrive and prosper. Since 2012 they have delivered over £6 million of savings while also increasing performance and satisfaction across key services. They have an ambitious regeneration programme, having already transformed the Old Town High Street. For the first time in over 20 years they have started to build their own housing as well as investing in improving existing properties. They are in a hugely enviable location being located just outside the M25 and only a 25 minute train journey from Central London.
With the greater pressures on services and a decreasing pot of funding there will be some tough decisions to be made, but still huge opportunities to create services that are more effective and tailored to the needs of residents. To help support the council through this challenging yet fascinating time they are currently recruiting an Assistant Director for Finance & Resources.
The Assistant Director, Finance & Resources will be a key role in the Corporate Management team working with senior Members to develop and deliver the Councils corporate vision, values and priorities. The role leads the service development and delivery for a wide range of Council Services covering: Financial Services; Commercial Assets & Property Development; Revenues & Benefits; and, Procurement & Commissioning.
The post holder will act as Deputy S151 Officer, supporting the Corporate Director Finance & Operations, working across the breadth of the organisation to support the development and implementation of strategies to deliver the Council’s strategic priorities. It will be actively involved in all material business decisions to ensure that the immediate and longer-term implications, opportunities and risks are fully considered and aligned with the organisation’s Medium Term Financial Strategy.
To be suitable for the role you need to be an ambitious and driven fully qualified accountant with the ability to influence and manage senior managers from a range of services across the Council and within external stakeholder organisations. Relevant management experience and evidence of the drive to lead services to continuously improve customer focus is also essential, as is effective project management.
