Head of Service

Full time

The fastest growing city economy in Yorkshire. A major town centre regeneration in the pipeline, along with 1,000 new homes. An overall ‘good’ Ofsted rating for children’s services. Clearly, Rotherham is changing. Driving this change is a council that’s passionate about putting Rotherham on the map for all the right reasons. Now you’ll take us even further by bringing the same commitment, tenacity and ambition to this critical role.

Putting ideas into action

Transforming our area’s neighbourhoods is a big part of our plans. We’ve developed an exciting new model and we need you to make it happen. It’s your opportunity to lead the new service and transform the way we work with Members, residents, partners and businesses. Your aim? To put communities right at the heart of everything we do.

To succeed, you must be a strategic leader and ambassador for neighbourhood working – someone who can set direction and give high-level guidance. You’ll see that our new model shapes our thinking, while looking for innovative, sustainable ways to meet future challenges. Positive and enthusiastic, you’ll thrive on the opportunity to lead cultural change.

Collaborating for communities

You’ll be helping us build outstanding services for the people, businesses and communities of Rotherham. So you’ll need to have already managed neighbourhood services for a sizeable organisation. You’ll therefore know about community development and asset-based approaches. What’s more, as you’ll be working closely with different Directorates and delivering a one-council approach, you’ll have shown you can build relationships and forge strong partnerships.

An experienced project manager, you can negotiate, network and solve problems. A talent for communicating, both in person and on paper, is vital too so you can explain proposals clearly and build consensus.

Motivational rewards

This is an exciting time to join Rotherham. You can look forward to all the satisfaction of building on the changes we’ve already made, reinforcing our momentum and driving further progress. It’s a receptive, enthusiastic, collaborative environment in which to make your mark. The more tangible rewards are highly attractive too!
