Planning Officer (Level 1)
We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to work within our Development Management division. You will deal with the processing of basic planning applications and appeals as well as checking and validating planning applications. You will also provide planning advice to the public both verbally and in writing.
Educated to degree level you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good attention to detail, along with the ability to interpret detailed information and plans. You will be able to work flexibly on a wide range of tasks both independently and as part of a team to meet challenging targets. Whilst knowledge of planning issues is desirable, it is more important that you have a keen interest in the places in which we live and the ability to learn and progress in a challenging and rewarding career.
The Council has a strong commitment to training and staff development and this post offers an opportunity for the right candidate to study to become a qualified Town Planner.
The successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week.
