Principal Transport Officer
Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking an exceptional transport planner to fulfil a lead role supporting Cambridgeshire’s growth agenda, enabling the exciting and unprecedented level of growth by securing innovative and sustainable transport solutions. Based in the beautiful and vibrant city of Cambridge.
As a Principal Planner within the Transport Assessment Team in the County Council’s Growth and Economy Service you will assess and shape transport solutions for a range of developments across the county - from world leading research facilities to major employment sites and new communities.
Supporting this growth requires innovative, transport networks. This process begins with a comprehensive, objective assessment of development transport impacts:
The successful candidate will therefore demonstrate:
• Significant experience in Transport Assessments
• Master planning for major developments
• Strong negotiation skills, and a track record in securing transport funding through planning
The role will require close dialogue with developers and their agents and necessitate strong partnership working with District Councils, a variety of teams from across the County Council, Highways England, public transport operators and other key stakeholders.
Supporting elected members is also a key element of the role so strong communication skills, both speaking and in writing, are important attributes.
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent in a transport-related discipline as well as knowledge of development-related transport planning and policy, transport assessment techniques, and transport modelling.
