We are seeking a part time Business Partner to provide financial support to the relevant project managers and be responsible for producing robust business cases and high quality financial advice and options where appropriate at key points in project cycles. The post holder will have overall responsibility in financial planning, risk management and coordination of financial arrangements for a given area, as well as understanding the wider capital programme and the impact of their projects on this.
Alongside this, you will maintain an engaging and proactive relationship with key stakeholders across the business and contribute to the design, production and implementation of projects to help deliver the primary capital development projects in the Council. This role plays a crucial role in implementing strategies and programmes to improve the Council’s use of resources and initiatives and deliver value for money services.
To be considered for this role you must be CCAB qualified (or have a recognised accountancy qualification) and demonstrate your ability to build excellent relationships, effectively managing and engaging relevant officers with their financial governance.
You will have strong influencing and negotiating skills, with a good understanding of local government finance and financial techniques such as budgeting, monitoring, closing and options appraisal.
You will be able to effectively communicate complex financial issues in a clear and accessible manner, confidently dealing with elected member and other senior officers.
The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of the broad regulatory and procurement frameworks within which large capital projects operate and will be able to apply forensic financial skills to a range of capital projects.
