An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bath & North East Somerset Council at a pivotal time of significant change and modernisation.

As Director of Environment Services, you will be an essential part of the Council’s leadership team that is instrumental in defining and delivering the Council’s overall long-term strategy, works closely with partners, motivates people to provide the best possible services ensuring quality outcomes for the community.

The post holder will:

• Lead the portfolio group of Neighbourhood Services, Highways and Traffic and Transport and Parking to deliver integrated services across the Council.

• Ensure the delivery of key front line statutory and non-statutory services to ensure that the Council delivers a healthy, clean and safe environment for residents, businesses and visitors.

• Work collaboratively across boundaries actively tapping into existing networks and building new long term relationships to deliver on the things that matter most to residents.

• Creates trust and encourages a high performing, diverse, inclusive and engaged workforce capable of delivering the Council’s ambitions.

• Takes a broad view of issues and oversees large budgets effectively and ensure the best use of scarce resources delivering value for money services.

You will need to demonstrate experience of managing diverse teams and activities across multiple service areas as well as significant operational and contract management experience at a senior level.

We are seeking to appoint a highly visible and inspirational leader, with a desire to improve our world, inspire others to do likewise and perform at the highest levels.

This appointment is offered as a fixed-term appointment for a period of two years. The Council is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce.
