This is a very exciting time to join Reading. We are working with partners to create an independent local authority-owned company (Brighter Futures for Children) to support our unrelenting focus on high quality outcomes for children. The company will be commissioned to deliver excellent children’s social care, early help services, health services and education across the borough.

We have appointed a new Director of Children’s Services, Stephen Kitchman, who is just about to join our highly motivated management team. We are entirely committed to ensuring children have the best possible start in life and now seek an energetic safeguarding senior leader to help us to achieve our ambitious vision for the future. As our Head of Safeguarding you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of children’s safeguarding, delivering high quality services and securing improved life chances for vulnerable children and young people in Reading. You will also be able to influence and help create a great Company ethos.
