At Camden Council we want to make Camden a better borough – a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind. Together, we want to create a place that works for everyone, where everybody has a voice and this role is critical to delivering our ambition.
We’re seeking a talented and experienced HR and Organisational Development Policy and Engagement Officer to lead on strategic priorities, bringing fresh ideas to challenge the status quo, whilst working collaboratively with colleagues across OD and HR to review and improve our existing policies / practice where needed.
You will take a forward thinking approach to HR practices, regularly liaising with a range of stakeholders to influence and critically challenge decision making, along with developing a range of innovative solutions that will add value.
You’ll build strong relationships with the Chief Executive’s office, Internal Communications and the wider organisation, overseeing the delivery of the Employee Engagement survey along with developing the employee value proposition from recruitment through to on-boarding and on-going staff engagement.
The successful candidate will be joining an established and supportive team and will have the opportunity to learn new skills whilst supporting the organisation on our journey of continuous improvement.
You will hold a degree or have substantial experience of working within a policy, engagement or communications environment (not necessarily all three).
You’ll take a forward thinking digital approach to strategy, proactively taking the lead to deliver results and confidently deal with complex issues.
Your expert stakeholder management skills will mean you are able to build effective relationships with senior leaders to influence decision making.
The ability to analyse and interrogate data, presenting information in a clear and accessible manner is essential to the role. As is your strong verbal, written, digital and pictorial communication skills.
You’ll be working in a fast paced environment, with constant conflicting priorities so understanding the organisation’s direction of travel and ambitions for the next 3-5 years, including knowledge of the political and economic environment the Council is operating within is crucial to the role.
Alongside this, your dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and commitment to continuous learning will mean you are able to work collaboratively at all levels across the organisation in order to drive improvement.

Camden is proud to be the country’s first Timewise council and as part of this accreditation, we work to help parents balance work with childcare.
This fits in with our aim to be leaders in innovative, flexible and part-time working that allows for different patterns of care and for parents to share childcare responsibilities.
