The Head of HR Operations is pivotal in our new HR Service. This influential role will be instrumental in changing how the council delivers its promise to our staff - acting as catalyst for improving how local government operates and the way it is perceived as a place to work. The ultimate goal is to become far more people-focused as an organisation, in fact we aim to be the best organisation to work for within five years. This will mean moving away from the ‘traditional’ approach to management, towards a coaching model and an emotionally intelligent way of getting the best out of people.
This position offers a rare opportunity to build, shape and develop a HR service from the start, as services are brought back in-house. Our new team will enhance the offer already provided from our passionate and ambitious service - harnessing skills that already exist, together with new areas of expertise which will see the team double in size and provide an impetus to advance organisational change.
First and foremost, you will be an emotionally intelligent leader able to quickly gain personal credibility and trust through your management style and the way you develop those around you and drive constant improvement.
You will be somebody who thrives on change and innovation, whilst grounded in the reality that delivery matters. You’ll have the tenacity and drive to make things happen at pace to deliver tangible benefits for the organisation and connect with our community, businesses and residents.
You will understand what a modern and progressive HR service looks like – as well as how to get there. You will be outcome focused, with the ability to take people across the council with you.
