We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Highways Engineer to work within the dynamic Engineering Service. Engineering is extending its services to Parks and Housing to manage their assets and so the successful candidate will be flexible and adept at identifying improvements and prioritising work according to the needs of customers and legal and health and safety requirements.
As a valued team member, you will make recommendations for continuous improvement demonstrating the ability to incorporate customer requirements, have good project delivery skills and develop your professionalism together with the services that you deliver. You may be required to respond to service queries, complaints, Members Enquiries and responses to FOI requests in line with agreed standards relative to your area of work.
The successful candidate will be an experienced specialist in the following areas:
- The safe and effective delivery of revenue and capital funded asset improvements and maintenance of the highway.
- The design, contract document and project management of highway schemes.
You must have hold a degree in Engineering or a diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
You will need to demonstrate people, performance, influencing, project management and technical skills having previously held an engineering post and provided positive change with high quality customer care.
You should be confident in using and adapting to a range of ICT systems with the ability to manipulate, analyse and present data. This will include include excellent organisational and communication skills both written and verbal. The ability to manage a demanding workload effectively, working together with your team and liaising with internal and external customers and stakeholders is critical.
You will also have experience of dealing with UK data protection legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015, the Data Protection Act 1998, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all subordinate legislation. You’ll also be an expert in ICE condition of Contract and NEC condition of contract as well as CSS BCI inspection, Management of Highway Structures – A Code of Practice September 2005. This will include designing briefs, creating drawings as part of specifications, delivering engineering projects and managing external contractors.
