Liverpool is an international city that needs little introduction. The city has achieved an historic turnaround in its fortunes over the past few decades and the physical transformation of its skyline continues. Its people, heritage, music, arts, sport, architecture, fashion and nightlife make it the most exciting city in the UK.

Our vision is to create a strong and growing city built on fairness. We are determined to ensure that the distribution of work, prosperity and opportunity is open to all and are committed to achieving inclusive local growth that benefits every citizen.

To deliver this we are fundamentally rethinking and redesigning how we deliver our public services - working closely with public sector partners, local businesses and residents to enhance and support the communities they live in. We have been successful in our response to austerity so far but recognise the need to secure new sources of revenue by investing commercially to support our long-term ambitions.

With a new Chief Executive recently appointed, we are now seeking to recruit to the key role of Director of Finance and Resources (S151). As well as managing Liverpool’s significant finances, the role also covers HR and payroll, digital/ICT, customer services and commercial investment.

Candidates will need substantial senior management experience within a large and complex public sector organisation, a proven track record of improving finance services and achieving business transformation, and the ability to identify and exploit new opportunities. You will also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with and influence a wide range of audiences as well as an understanding of current and emerging local government issues.
