Full time

Wandsworth is an exciting place to live and work. It can also present significant challenges for some of our children, young people and families who require additional support. As a Council we are transforming our services to ensure this support is available, in the right place and at the right time.

We have made significant progress since our Ofsted inspection in December 2015, as demonstrated in our Re-inspection earlier this year. This role will shape and lead children’s social care, including; ‘Front Door’ services, Children Looked After, Children in Need, Fostering and Adoption, Specialist Services, Leaving Care and Safeguarding Standards across Wandsworth. It is a large and broad portfolio for an experienced senior manager who can forge multi-agency partnerships with early help, police, schools, health, and the voluntary and community sectors.

A qualified social worker, you will be keen to understand our communities and will provide clear leadership to staff and confident advice to elected members. With a strategic mindset you will bring innovation and experience of service redesign – helping us prepare for future challenges as well as delivering on current priorities, including financial savings. Ultimately you will help us deliver our long-term vision of moving from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Outstanding’, delivering the level of service that the children, young people and families of Wandsworth deserve.

Wandsworth is located in south west London and is widely seen as one of London’s most dynamic, successful and attractive areas. A relocation package is available for a successful candidate who needs to move house upon appointment.
