Surveying Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Salary range: £15,000 p.a. inc.
Contract: Fixed term (24 Months)
Start date: January 2019
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic Centre and other locations from time to time
Brief description of the role
The apprentice will work in the repairs & voids team.
We are looking for a high calibre apprentice to assist in doing administration work for the corporate complaints service.
The apprentice will work in the Repairs & Voids Services sections in Housing Property Services. The role will be rotated between the Responsive Repairs Customer Services and the Voids administration support.
In the Responsive Repairs Team the apprentices will be work in a busy repairs desk environment. Learning how to handle customer enquiries via phone and email and supporting repairs surveyors to deliver a high performing service. You will book appointments and manage diaries as well as filter through customer feedback and escalate any issues.
In the Voids Team the apprentices will support the technical team by liaising with contractors and other areas of the business to get our properties fixed and re-let fast. Duties might include raising of purchase orders, minute taking, managing keys, meeting booking, filing, printing and scanning.
Apprentices will rotate through duties in these teams throughout the year and be exposed to a wide range of activities and learn about what goes on in Housing Property Services. There will be opportunities to get involved in contractor management activities and performance monitoring.

Simultaneously undertaking a comprehensive study programme towards the Level 3 Surveying Technician Apprenticeship. You will gain valuable knowledge and skills which will be an asset to the council and your career. Our apprenticeship scheme offers significant assistance with training and provides the opportunity to improve skills for future career opportunities.
Apprentices will achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Surveying as a pre requisite to end point assessment and will become Associate members of the RICS (AssocRICS).
The successful candidate will need good organisational skills, attention to detail, as well as good time management skills.
Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, and understanding of good customer service.
You will need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services.
We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work.
The entry requirement for the apprenticeship will typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher including Maths and English or a Level 2 apprenticeship in a construction or property related discipline. Apprentices who are granted entry without GCSE Grade C or higher in Maths and English will be required to achieve Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2 as part of the apprenticeship.
Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is desirable.
