With no overall controlling political party, the political context at Ryedale is not without challenge, however members are united in their commitment and ambition for Ryedale.  Therefore we need an interim deputy chief executive whose strong, pragmatic and influential leadership enables the clarity of focus on strong performance within complex political structures. 

Our focus is to support and encourage business enterprise, securing new investments, working with our people and businesses to help them reach their full potential.  Improve employment opportunities, support access to training and education, and improve housing supply, healthy life choices and our cultural offer.  Enabling and supporting people to get involved and contribute to local services, and continuing the programme of transforming the council and rationalising the asset portfolio.

The post holder will have leadership responsibility for key areas of the business, assuming line management responsibility for the Heads of Service leading these areas – Streetscene, Planning, Customer Service, IT, programmes & projects, commissioning and asset management.  Therefore it may be helpful if the post holder has experience within these areas.

An effective communicator and people manager your ability to motivate, empower and build relationships across the workforce will be critical to your success, you will enable people to be the best that they can be.

We are looking for an interim deputy chief executive with the ability, ambition, drive and clarity of thinking to progress the transformation programme head on.

In appointing to this role, we are happy to consider flexible options including full or part time working, job share, secondment and fixed term options.  However, it is critical that this work starts as soon as possible and for this reason, early availability will be taken into account when making our appointment.
