Job Description

About Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire is tomorrow’s county.  We are already a great place for people to live and work.  We have a strong and resilient economy.  Working with our communities and partners we are shaping an ambitious and exciting future that extends better life chances to all our residents and encourages further investment into our flourishing business sector.

The Role

As Deputy Chief Executive you will lead and develop services, partnerships and projects that deliver our vision and high expectations for the county’s future.  As a member of our senior leadership team you will support the Chief Executive in delivering our new corporate plan, “Looking to the Future”.

Under your leadership, our corporate and support services will be at the heart of the Council’s future focussed transformation, helping catalyse the opportunities presented by technology and securing the success of vital corporate and county wide initiatives.  Building on our strong financial position you will ensure we continue to maximise investment opportunities, income generation and new models of delivery.  You will champion our values and behaviours, taking the lead in embedding an inclusive, positive approach that empowers and equips our staff to achieve the very best, so that working innovatively and in partnership to develop resilient services is second nature.

The post is designated as the Council’s Section 151 Officer, so you will need to be professionally qualified.  You will bring extensive leadership and transformation experience in the public sector, with a strong focus on innovation and continuous improvement.  Able to work across organisational boundaries, you will bring a track record of working collaboratively with communities and partners.  Future focussed, creative and resilient, you will bring the communication skills to sell complex and bold ideas and the personal attributes that inspire people to follow your lead.

Our future is within reach.  Are you ready to help us grasp it?
