Making Royal Greenwich safe for everyone who lives, works or studies here is the key aim for the Council’s Safer Communities Team, by bringing partner services together to reduce offending and support victims to recover. The team leads work across a range of crime reduction priorities, currently including youth violence, gangs and exploitation, hate crime, violence against women and girls, prevention of radicalisation, drugs issues, anti-social behaviour and problem-solving to create safer public spaces.
We need a Policy and Performance Manager to lead key work underpinning activity across all our priorities. You will lead our performance management and crime analysis, unpicking the meanings behind the data, whether crime stats or from evaluating projects, and making recommendations for actions and improvement. You will also lead development of strategies and action plans, support delivery of funded projects and our training programme and participate in departmental and corporate initiatives. An important part of the role is deputising for the team manager so you will need to be resourceful and adaptable to deal with whatever arises. The work is pressured at times but you’ll be working with enthusiastic and versatile colleagues in a lively, friendly team
You will need broad experience of community safety work and a thorough understanding of the main issues and framework for crime prevention and reduction. Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to develop and manage relationships and use your initiative are all key skills for this post.
Please note the successful candidate will need to pass the national Non-Police Personnel Vetting process; to be eligible for this check you must have been continuously resident in the UK for the three years immediately prior to applying for clearance. A successful DBS check will also be required.
