An increased capital programme means that we have a number of exciting opportunities available within the Highways team and you will play a key role in developing the infrastructure and delivering our aspirations for economic growth and sustainable travel. You will be part of an award-winning Major Projects and Infrastructure team that is transforming the city with its proactive approach and partnership working. Based at offices in the city centre, the Council has flexible working arrangements and is moving towards more smart and agile ways of working.

This role will lead on the identification, initiation, feasibility and development of options for strategic transport improvements across the city. You will be working with the wider team to develop comprehensive bids, ensuring that the appropriate level of appraisal has been undertaken, to secure funding to deliver the transport aspirations of the City. 

The Role

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of developing briefs, businesses cases and funding bids.
  • An ability to analyse problems and information and develop innovative solutions
  • An understanding of the wider transport context within which schemes will need to be developed.
  • Experience of designing schemes or ability to develop schemes.
