Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

You will provide a front line and customer focussed service for the provision of housing grants across tenures for people with disabilities. This is a multi-disciplinary function, requiring you to work independently and autonomously to provide a full architectural and surveying "Agency Service". An ability is required to engage in detailed, involved and difficult negotiations with all appropriate parties and provide information and advice on all aspects of Housing legislation, as they relate to grant aid.

You will carry out comprehensive surveys of properties to identify the most reasonable and practicable options for adaptation. The post-holder will also need to give due consideration to the needs of a multi-racial and multi-cultural population. Working within a dynamic team you will be expected to be proactive and contribute toward goals of constant improvement to our service.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be proactive and performance orientated, having an ability to grow in the role and influence improvement. You will have recent and extensive experience of delivering / supervising adaptation projects. This experience will include ensuring work is carried out to specification / quality standards and is completed within budget and on time.
