With a thriving cultural scene and competitive economy, our borough has always stood out from the crowd. Our council is just as unique, with a vision that places residents at the heart of progress. Our commitment to fairness and innovation has led to some very exciting developments – and there are many more to come. Help us realise our vision and make positive change happen.

As Assistant Director for Community & Culture, you’ll take charge of services ranging from Events, Culture and Arts to Leisure, Parks and Libraries. It’s not just about strategic leadership – it’s about new ways of working. We want a resident-centric culture that’s open to new models of service delivery, with teams inspired to deliver for our borough’s vibrant communities. With your expert leadership, staff will perform at their best, providing high quality services that meet national standards. With the chance to lead cross-service initiatives, manage budgets and deputise for the Executive Director, this is an exceptional opportunity to build your expertise.

An experienced senior manager, you will effectively manage staff and budgets to achieve impressive performance. You’ll be adept at delivering services, both at an operational and strategic level. But what makes you different is your ability to lead transformational change. With your knowledge of service-related trends and issues, you’ll support the redesign of universal services. Excellent people skills will be essential in this role, so you should be effective at working with partners and managing different stakeholders.
