Oxfordshire County Council is looking for an inspiring individual to lead the Public Health agenda within Oxfordshire.
This is an exciting time of change, with a refreshed Health and Wellbeing Board; new membership, a new vision and strategy and the joining up of health and infrastructure through healthy place shaping. Oxfordshire has a great opportunity to explore how we build communities that encourage and support healthy lifestyles. The joining up of these two crucial agendas, now owned by both the Health and Wellbeing and the Growth Board, is a fantastic opportunity for the Director of Public Health to drive this ambitious agenda and make a real impact on the quality of life of our population for generations to come.
Oxfordshire is now committed to embedding Population Health Management as a way of supporting our residents to live healthy lives. This will be delivered locally, but with clear links to work that is happening across the sustainability and transformation partnership. The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering change, working within a complex health and care system, using your influencing skills to deliver positive outcomes for the population and to ensure this agenda is owned and driven forward by the many autonomous sectors of society.
This demanding, varied and interesting opportunity will suit a dynamic and innovative person who has experience of developing individual, community and economic resilience. This key role will report to our Chief Executive, whilst supporting and advising across the County Council’s Adults and Children’s Services and other departments, NHS, local councils, the voluntary sector and other key partners.
The successful candidate will advise Members, senior management teams and key stakeholders, including the CCG, on all matters relating to Public Health. Strong partnership working experience, both internally and externally, is essential, coupled with excellent leadership skills and the required specialist public health registration with GMC, GDC or UK PHR
