Are you a dedicated and experienced professional looking for your next career step?

Cumbria County Council are looking to recruit a Senior Manager for our Children and Young People service, based in the Carlisle and Eden area.

The Children and Young People service comes under our People 'cluster', and you will be a part of the wider team that is responsible for children and young people services all across our county; from Children Looked After, Early Help & Targeted Youth Support, Children & Families teams and the Safeguarding hub.

This is an exciting time to join us on our journey to being consistently 'Good' for children and young people. We are also 2 years within our Signs of Safety implementation, and we are fully committed to this being embedded in all of our work with children and their families.

The Role

The role of a Senior Manager can be challenging and demanding, but it is incredibly rewarding and the right person will have the opportunity to make a real difference. You will oversee a wide number of teams, ensuring they deliver consistent and high quality services, using performance management and audit to continue learning and making improvements. We are looking for someone who can cultivate good relationships with partners, promoting a whole system approach to meeting the needs of children and young people, including developing arrangements for early help. You will also be required to lead strategic responsibilities on behalf of the directorate across the county, ensuring a coherent approach, bringing innovation and experience to the position.

What the Senior Management Team say:

"Cumbria is a great place to work and live with lots of exciting and innovative practice, where the focus is always on the positive impact for children. Despite the large geographical area we are a close knit team who provide high support and high challenge to each other and look forward to working with the successful candidate and what they can bring to the role and team."

Who we are looking for:
