Assistant Licensing Officer

An opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to assist in the day to day running of the Licensing Service within The Local Authority. The Licensing Service deals with a wide range of licensable activities including taxi and private hire vehicles, alcohol premises, gambling premises and animal welfare licensing.

We are looking for someone who can provide a professional and responsive service, key tasks associated with the role are:

• Undertake general administrative and licensing duties, including the receipt and processing of licence applications.
• Receive payments, authenticate the level of fee, issue receipts and safeguard payments.
• To contribute to the accurate and efficient maintenance of registers, records and statistics.
• Support the Principal Licensing Officer in ensuring that data is collected on time, is robust, accurate and complete.

To fulfil the role effectively, you will have excellent interpersonal, IT and organisational skills. You should take pride in work produced paying close attention to detail and being highly accurate. You should be able to demonstrate ownership of work and show willingness to see it through to a successful conclusion.

In addition, to having strong Microsoft Word and communication skills, you will have an excellent telephone manner, be proactive and keen to learn.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they can make an immediate impact and will be expected to hit the ground running.
