Starting salary: £35,078 (from April 2019)

Ref: LC733

Want to play your part in shaping policy in London?

The Health & Social Care Team is looking for a highly motivated person with ambition, initiative and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.

You will have experience of contributing to policy development in social care and public health or related policy areas, with a good understanding of local government and its roles in a complex landscape, and ideally some understanding of the NHS.

You will be able to build effective relationships across sectors, communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of people; have experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload in a pressurised environment.

You will be helping London boroughs respond to the challenges of improving health and wellbeing at a time when demographic pressures, behaviour and expectations, a changing policy landscape and public spending pressures are combining to make this increasingly difficult.  The challenge ahead will be to enable strong leadership in the development of health and wellbeing policy, as well as to ensure that the NHS Long Term Plan and forthcoming Adult Social Care and Prevention Green Papers, strengthen boroughs’ efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of all Londoners.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses.  We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.
