Building a Better Brent – delivering improved movement in Wembley

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are looking for an accomplished highway construction project manager to support the delivery of two high priority highway schemes. The work will be varied and at times challenging, as the delivery needs to work alongside other development projects and events held at Wembley Stadium and the SSE Arena in ensuring successful scheme delivery.

No day is the same with the post holder being actively involved in a range of work from the preparation of written progress and financial reports, site visits, to representation of the borough at stakeholder meetings, and from liaison with both internal and external stakeholders to responding to queries from members of the public. The post will require a high level of project and contract management.

The Person

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluent written and verbal English, and be capable of producing project progress reports including financial management. Self-motivation, persistence and being able to demonstrate outstanding time management skills are key in order to ensure the tight timescales are met.

A good understanding of construction methods and materials and contract management is required with demonstrable experience of undertaking highway project work including structures.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and CAD/GIS and ideally will have post-qualification experience in project management.

Closing Date: 31 March 2019 (23:00)
