Cornwall Investment Delivery Company

The Role

Cornwall Council is creating a brand-new company to invest and develop for the future. Our plans are ambitious and game-changing with up to £600m to be invested in new housing and workspace that will have an extraordinary and transformative impact on Cornwall’s future. Right now, we’re building a team that can bring development expertise from the commercial world to create the blueprint for a new way of living, working and thriving in Cornwall.

We are looking for Non-Executive Directors who will bring their commercial experience and skills to this new company’s dynamic and ambitious Board. Operating with fairness, strength and tact, you will play a proactive role in developing strategy and keep the new organisation set for the right course.

We would be keen to receive applications from those with experience in the following disciplines:

  • Housing Development, Commercial Development or Development Consultancy
  • Financial Leadership (including audit and assurance) – ideally within a property or wider asset-led organisation
  • Construction and major infrastructure delivery
  • Infrastructure investment including PFI / PPP etc.
  • Placemaking - where your commercial credentials have contributed to delivering improvement to ‘place’.

You will undoubtedly bring strong private sector experience and we would welcome applications from those that are currently, or have in the past, served on the board of other development companies. Whilst the Chair should have direct links with Cornwall or the South West, Non-Executives need not necessarily have local connections. Indeed, it would be desirable if applicants can bring a national network of contacts, including in central government, that can help us to achieve our ambitions and deliver for the citizens of Cornwall.

These are exciting, wide-ranging roles that will offer the successful applicant exposure to significant housing development, commercial workspace development and major mixed-use regeneration schemes. There’s the opportunity to shape something from the very beginning, to innovate and to make new markets
