The Role
Owing to the retirement of the existing post- holder, we have an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced music educator to join a prestige service based in the heart of London where legacies are made within the community we serve. This is a permanent role working on a full-time basis and starting as soon as possible.
This is an exceptional service that has a history of excellence in music education. The successful applicant will lead the service so this job will be demanding. However, music is strong within Camden and currently every school in the borough engages with the service.
The Music Service organises instrumental tuition in the majority of Camden schools, runs 37 borough ensembles and choirs as well as two Saturday music centres. It organises regular performances including the bi-annual Schools Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall and works in partnership with professional arts organisations.
If you are an exceptional music educator and wish to be considered for this opportunity in education and training as head of service, then please apply now.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a music related discipline and able demonstrate up to date knowledge of national policy and strategies for music education. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of line managing a team within an education environment.
You will need to have a good understanding of strategic planning and policy development, best practice in music teaching and learning and confident in managing traded services and budgets to desired outcomes. If this sounds like your next big opportunity, then please apply.
If you would like to have an informal chat about the role before applying, please contact Peter West at peter.west@camden.gov.uk
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
