The key role of Executive Director of Corporate Services will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational performance of the range of ‘core’ business enabling functions which underpin the delivery of Council services and responsibilities. These include Finance & Customer Services, Governance & Compliance (including Legal, Audit & Risk and Democratic Services) and Corporate Transformation (including HR, ICT, Business Change, Communications and Performance). You will lead a team of qualified and experienced directors to provide effective advice, support and guidance to the service directorates to ensure the delivery of our transformation agenda and to provision of high quality services.
We’re looking for a robust, professional leader with demonstrable experience of operating as the senior director of enabling services in a local authority setting. You will be Degree-educated (or equivalent) with a balance of sector and commercial skills to support the provision of high quality, enabling services. A team player, your experience will provide balance to the existing executive team in driving the organisation forward through an exciting period of change. Analytical, creative and politically aware, you’ll be an ambassador for the Council, with excellent people skills, political acumen and a clear customer focus.
Key responsibilities will be to provide clear professional leadership and collaborative working with partners to establish and deliver a framework to meet shared strategic objectives within the agreed budget framework through effective performance and risk management. Your management style will model positive leadership behaviours, empowering, engaging and encouraging your teams to live the Council’s values and behaviours, to facilitate achievement of the Corporate Vision. In addition, you will play an influential role in enhancing performance and efficiency across the Council, working effectively with lead Members and Council officers.
