An Excellent Opportunity....

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

Brent CYP has just been judged by Ofsted as 'Good' with outstanding features. We are on a continuous journey of improvement and we are looking for like-minded professionals to join us. This exciting new post has been created to manage the newly established Accelerated Support Team (AST). Formerly known as Family and Adolescent Support Team (FAST), the AST is being established to support vulnerable young people on the edge of care. The aim of the service is to maintain young people within their family network by providing intensive, evidence based interventions to prevent them from becoming looked after. This includes an Out-of-Hours service available during evenings and weekends to support the most vulnerable young people.

The AST framework provides an amalgamation of the early intervention approach, out of hours support and social work intervention as a wrap-around service which brings together all services involved with a young person in ensuring they are maintained within their family network and ultimately prevented from coming into the care system. The manager will be supported by a deputy manager and a co-ordinator in the day to day management of the team. This is a great opportunity to achieve early identification and early intervention with young people on the edge of care and improve outcomes for the young people of Brent.

The Person

The post holder will be a qualified Social Worker with a proven track record and experience of managing a similar sized, fast paced team where assessments and interventions are short term in nature with good quality outcomes. The post holder should have good communication skills and be adept at partnership working as the work will include partnership working as the work will include partnerships with various internal and external agencies.

Closing Date: 1 May 2019 (23:00)

Assessment & Interview Date: To Be Confirmed
