The Role

Are you passionate about the importance of a strong democracy?  Can you cope under pressure?

We are looking for a committed team player to join the Electoral Services team based in Richmond with the delivery of electoral registration and elections.

We seek a motivated person to embrace and adapt to the requirements of Individual Electoral Registration legislation and the demands of elections.

You will be required to provide effective and high-quality software support. Experience using Xpress software would be desirable, but it is not essential.  You must have a good level of IT literacy. Experience of data matching is desirable but not essential.

Good communication skills are essential when dealing with the public, councillors, candidates, election agents and officers within the Council.  The ideal candidate will also be required to engage with the public and be committed to reaching out to underrepresented groups to promote electoral registration.

You must have experience of working to tight deadlines.  You must be flexible in your day to day working and be prepared to work extended hours, including weekends when required, especially at the time of the annual canvass and in the period leading up to elections taking place.

You will be enrolled as a member of the Association of Electoral Administrators and encouraged to study for the AEA certificate.

For an informal discussion please contact Velda Shambayati, Deputy Electoral Services Manager on 02088917174.

In return, we can offer you flexible working arrangements and a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays. In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops, and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities are also offered.

Richmond and Wandsworth are currently reviewing our pay, reward and benefits framework, in partnership with Trade Union colleagues. We are developing different options that make sure we have a fair and transparent system in place
