Director, Regeneration

Employer
Hackney London Borough Council
Location
Hackney, London (Greater)
Salary
Circa £130,000
Closing date
7 Jun 2019

Hackney is London's best borough. We want our Council to match that – to be the best local authority in the capital, providing the excellent services our residents deserve and tackling inequality through innovative regeneration programmes. Our organisation has been transformed in 20 years from the brink of financial collapse to one of the best in the UK, through a culture of ambition and effective leadership.

We’re proud of the award-winning, strong team of regeneration professionals we’ve built. We’re now seeking a new Director, Regeneration, to continue their important work – whether acting as our own developer to deliver thousands of new Council homes ourselves, shaping the development of our town centres or playing a key role in London’s policy debate.

Our in-house, direct delivery housebuilding programme will deliver 2,000 new homes by 2022, with funding and political commitment secured for thousands more in the coming years. Rather than just talking about building Council homes, we’re actually doing it, completing large-scale estate regeneration projects and infill development rooted in a social purpose. Add our Woodberry Down Programme – Europe’s biggest single-site estate regeneration – and our ambition is clear.

But we’re not just building homes. Our Better Renting campaign is regulating Hackney’s growing private rented sector. Our dedicated policy team has led successful campaigns for national reform, establishing our position as a thought-leader in London. With investment and private development continuing to transform our borough, a renewed focus on place shaping in our town centres is essential to deliver new jobs, skills and opportunities for our residents.

If you can match our passion and ambition with extensive capital delivery experience and a track-record of building new homes at scale, this leadership position at Hackney Council could be the role for you.
