Job 4 – 37 hours – day time - this job is temporary for up to 12 months to cover the secondment of the existing post holder. Beckside Court

As Kirklees is transitioning into a new model of responding to Mental Health Act assessments and adult social care, numerous opportunities have arisen. The day time AMHP hub responds to MHA assessments and there is no caseload responsibility. The Out of hours posts respond to MHA assessment and any other adult social care crisis that occurs outside of office hours.

The final post is a fixed term community post where the successful candidate will be expected to provide support and a preventative approach to service users to avoid hospital admission. You will undertake MHA assessments on service users within your own team; you will also hold a caseload.

Irrespective of which post you apply for, you will be fully supported by a dedicated team to undertake this complex and demanding role.

You will provide an important and valued professional function working with some of the most vulnerable people in society. Your professional expertise and approach will ensure individual needs and aspirations are supported at all times, risk is managed proportionately and safeguarding is of paramount importance. You can expect commitment to your personal and career development.

You will need to be compliant with the Mental Health Act, Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act and associated Codes of Practice to fulfil your duties in this role.

You will need to have experience of working with the service user group and be able to use social work methods to promote positive change, independence and wellbeing in accordance with assessed need, whilst promoting choice and control for adults and carers.

Working knowledge of relevant legislation and ability to apply legislation to practice including the Children Act 1989 is required and good IT skills to support accurate and timely case recordings.

You must hold a HCPC recognised Social Work Qualification, be qualified as an AMHP and be registered with the HCPC.

Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving license and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.

An enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) will be required for this job. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

Please indicate on your application form your preferred job.

*To apply for job 4 as a secondment you must be a substantive employee of the Council with over 6 months continuous service and have successfully completed your probation period. Applications for secondments will only be accepted if accompanied by a completed Secondment Permission Form, signed by your manager. If you are refused permission to apply for a secondment please contact HR Recruitment to register the refusal.
