The Post

The post involves supervising contact sessions between children and their parent(s)/carer(s)/family members. The contact worker will need to ensure that the children remain safe from emotional and physical harm during contact. They will be required to transport/escort children to and from contact sessions safely as well as record and report contact session observations to a standard acceptable for Family Proceedings Court.

The Person

No formal qualifications are required for this post although applicants will be expected to possess good verbal and written communication skills. You will need knowledge of relevant current legislation, such as the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004, Knowledge of child development, child protection and safeguarding issues. An understanding of and commitment to the promotion of the needs of children and their parents/guardians is essential. Experience of working with children and families is also required. You will also need to have access to your own car which you can use to transport children to and from contact, as well as a Full Clean Driving Licence, including Insurance cover for Business use.
