Job Details

Would you like to be part of an enthusiastic successful team to ensure high quality, inclusive, safe and sustainable Early Years and childcare for the Borough? Does your experience show you have an understanding of the difficulties some young children face in accessing school and the curriculum because of their emotional and/or behavioural issues? Do you have the skills to share this effectively with school staff, staff in other settings and families to meet these children’s needs?

As an Inclusion Support Worker you will provide support, advice and guidance, under the direction of the Inclusions Officer and Inclusions Team Manager. Working in collaboration with other members of the Inclusion Team, teachers in schools and other settings, and with parents to develop and implement programmes of support and integration to meet the needs of the whole child.

This is a practical post and will involve a great deal of intensive support for young children, ensuring they receive an in-depth assessment of needs to enable an appropriate programme of support to be implemented and kept under review. You will work closely with individuals and groups in and out the classroom using your own initiative and expertise to identify appropriate methods to deliver specific agreed learning activities and develop strategies for use with pupils presenting with challenging behaviour and who are having difficulties settling into and attending school.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed person to extend and further develop their expertise of working with children with complex needs and behavioral difficulties. We are looking for people with in-depth knowledge of strategies relating to behavior management and mental health problems and the ability to share this effectively with others. You will need a high level of creativity to meet the demands of a wide client base

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be flexible, committed to supporting other professionals and self-motivated.

A good standard of education together with evidence of continued professional development and an understanding of SEN and related issues is a must. Naturally, we’ll provide you with additional, relevant training and support to make the most of this opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children and their families.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service
