The Post

The apprentice will work in the Housing Management Neighbourhood Services Team.

Services which could include: lettings of new homes, tenancy management and estate services amongst others.

Key functionalities

  • Work with internal department and partners to set, coordinate, track and ensure completion of tenancy and estate related actions.
  • Develop knowledge of the lettings process and how this supports building the reputation of Brent Housing Management.
  • Develop technical capability to investigate low level anti-social behaviour (ASB), including neighbourhood nuisance, fly tipping, graffiti and abandoned vehicles. Escalate crime related ASB to relevant council teams and agencies
  • Undertake estate to assess standards and deal with any remedial actions
  • Build awareness and identification of vulnerable customers and using this to provide appropriate support under the support of line manager as appropriate
  • Offer proactive resolution of customers’ complaints and members’ enquiries regarding the service ensuring all issues are remedied and a formal response is provided concluding the case within the legislative framework
  • Maintain accurate customer records in all required systems both in the office and out on site including logging of customer feedback and engagement activities in real time

You will gain hands-on experience of Housing Management in Local Government by working as part of a team and assisting in the delivery of a quality Housing service within the council.

Simultaneously undertaking a comprehensive study programme towards the Level 3 in Housing / Property Management Apprenticeship. You will gain valuable knowledge and skills which will be an asset to the council and your career. Our apprenticeship scheme offers significant assistance with training and provides the opportunity to improve skills for future career opportunities.

The Person

This is a front line role so we are looking for confident and friendly individuals ready to make a difference for our customers. Keen to learn, you will demonstrate good communication skills, an understanding of good customer service and an interest in a career within Housing.

You will also need to show your interest in local government and the delivery of public services. We will also be looking for a flexible and positive approach to work.

Qualifications required

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
