A challenging opportunity has come up for an experienced Principal Social Worker within the Adult Social Care Health and Wellbeing Directorate at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
This post will provide the voice of front line social work practice, informing and influencing strategic decision making across the Directorate. The post holder will have a key role to, lead on the Quality Assurance framework implementation, securing a quality focus throughout social care, identifying improvements to effective social practice and ensuring best practice and new ways of working are embedded within our teams.
The role will be required to promote and advise on effective evidence-based social work and to support workforce development and succession planning. The post holder will provide consultation on complex cases to social workers to support their professional development, as well as ensuring active participation of a range of stakeholders to ensure their views contribute to service review and design.
It is essential that the post holder maintains an up to date overview and knowledge of legislation, policies (national and local) and procedures, including adult safeguarding.
The successful candidate will need to be a qualified and registered Social Worker with a successful track record in adult social care services over a minimum of five of years, together with leadership and management experience including supervision of social workers and students. They will also need to demonstrate the passion, skills and expertise to promote and develop social work practice within the current operating context of the Council.
This post will require an Enhanced DBS check.
