Job Details

Are you an experienced, dynamic educational psychologist seeking to develop your career and influence strategic developments at team and local authority level? If the answer is yes you will be interested in the newly established senior EP post in Telford and Wrekin.

As senior educational psychologist you will work with the principal educational psychologist to lead and develop an already highly valued EP service. You will also work closely with colleagues from other teams to plan and deliver borough wide training and other projects. We are hoping that the person appointed will play a leading part in designing and delivering approaches to promote mental health and social and emotional well-being of children and young people in Telford and Wrekin.

We are committed to early intervention and the promotion of inclusion. Educational psychologists contribute to council-led initiatives to support vulnerable groups. Telford and Wrekin Educational Psychology Service is highly regarded by schools and employs a systemic, consultative approach that is traded. We have introduced the Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training programme which has been well received; this is part of our drive to champion the emotional health and wellbeing of children in Telford and Wrekin.

Telford and Wrekin is a vibrant, cosmopolitan authority that has benefitted from significant recent investment; it is surrounded by beautiful Shropshire countryside and has the historic Ironbridge on its door step. Many schools have benefitted from previous funding schemes and their buildings and facilities are outstanding. It is a brilliant place to live and work.

As a Telford and Wrekin EP you will receive regular supervision (using peer, group and individual reflective management models) and have the opportunity to take part in extensive CPD activities. You will have access to excellent administration support, SMART laptops and phones. The council offers desirable, flexible working arrangements and the majority of schools are just a short drive from the office base.
