We are seeking to appoint a Control Officer to join a team of ten staff who provide a 24-hour Control Service for 365 days a year to residents within the Borough.

You will be responsible for receiving and processing calls from members of the public, contractors and outside agencies relating to all Council Services. You will have excellent customer care skills and experience of dealing with members of the public over the telephone. Have the ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with callers in situations that are often stressful.

Control Officers are the first point of communication out of office hours and in emergency situations. It is essential that you have the ability to work on your own initiative, to prioritise your own workload and to make best use of available resources.  You will also need the ability to liaise with and co-ordinate the work of Estate Services Officers, Emergency Wardens and contractors using a two-way radio system and the ability to interrogate and enter data on various computer systems.

It is essential that you are committed to working a rota system including nights and weekends.

For further information please contact Andy Booth, Estate Services Manager on 0208 871 8539 or ABooth@wandsworth.gov.uk

In return, we can offer you working arrangements that will enhance your work-life balance.  These include a generous holiday allowance of 31 days plus bank holidays.

In addition, we offer a range of staff benefits such as membership of the Local Government contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, new technology scheme, interest-free loans on annual travel cards, discounts at many leisure activities, restaurants, shops, and other establishments. A wide range of developmental opportunities are also offered.

Richmond and Wandsworth are currently reviewing our pay, reward and benefits framework, in partnership with Trade Union colleagues. We are developing different options that make sure we have a fair and transparent system in place.
